MILITARY ACADEMY APPLICATIONS ENCOURAGED
Crapo opens application process for Class of 2003
Washington, D.C. - Idaho Senator Mike Crapo is now accepting applications
for the class of 2003 from students wishing to attend one of the nation's
four military academies:
The U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, New York.
The U.S. Military Academy, West Point, New York
The U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland.
Interested students need to submit an application and references and
meet certain scholastic requirements for consideration in the next academic
year.
"Idaho has a strong tradition of sending excellent students to attend
our nation's military academies, and each year I look forward to reviewing
the applications of those who would like attend," Crapo said. "As students
are now thinking about their academic future, I urge them to consider one
of the military academies. These schools provide an unparalleled learning
environment and opportunities to serve our country. The events of the past
six months have reinforced the importance of training and maintaining a
high quality military, and the academies play a large role in that
preparation."
Students may apply to both United States Senators and the U.S.
Representative from their congressional district. The names of students
nominated by Crapo will be forwarded to each military academy, where final
appointments are made by the individual institution. Those wishing to
apply for a nomination to the next class, entering in 2003, should contact
Crapo's military representative, Linda Norris, at (208) 734-2515 for more
information. Applications must be submitted no later than October 31, 2002.
