Hello!
Just FYI....We have a fifth grade class at West Park which has been working
on a presentation for the House Transportation Committee of the Legislature
in regards to putting the Appaloosa on the Idaho State license plate. The
class was invited to Boise to make a power point presentation in person.
They were featured on the front page of tonight's Moscow Daily News,
specifically in regards to the etiquette taught preparatory to dining out
with Representatives Tom Trail and Gary Young and their wives. Other
activities planned include meeting Gov. Kempthorne, touring the state
capitol, the Idaho State Historical Society Museum and the Discovery Center.
Expenses of the trip were budgeted at $3484.77.
In the last two weeks, the teachers and the class have raised $3365 from
community donations and family contribution. $300 of the promised
donation have yet to be received. Please remember many class parents
attend UI as students, so money is very dear to them. This trip presents an
extraordinary opportunity in the areas of history, government, etiquette,
technology, and science, to mention just a few.
It should be mentioned that $1000 was received from Moscow Rotary Club.
Snacks have been donated by various sources, including Safeway.
Today, it was reiterated that all money for the trip must be on hand before
final purchase orders would be approved. The class lacks approximately
$135, with another $300 in pledges not yet recieved. If money is not found
to fill this deficit, the trip may be cancelled. Because this is Monday
evening, and departure is set for Wed at 9 am, time is critical.
If anyone has the ability to donate towards this class trip, feel free to
contact me at my work e-mail: erounds@gritman.org, or leave me a message
at 883-1522. My home phone number is 882-0614. Funds may also be delivered
to West Park School, with a memo indicating it is for `The Appaloosa Trip'.
In the event extra money is received, it will be used as a fund to cover any
unanticipated expenses. The balance, upon conclusion of the trip, will be
used to pay for other field trips or classroom expenses.
Thanks for your help! Susan Rounds
