Greetings to all Vision 2020 members...
I just want to clear the air on all of the talk about The Beach, and the non
conformity of contributions to the so called "Mardi Gras Committee." I have
personally attended some of these meetings years ago, and watched and
observed the performance of this committee. In my opinion this committee is
no more than a way for all of the local bars to cut up a lot of cash, and
contribute very, very little to the charities at hand. The committee only
turns in a very small percentage of actual proceeds off of the ticket
pricing, and none of these bars contribute any percentage of their liquor
sales, which are enormous on this one night event.
The Beach is a nonalcoholic nightclub capable of holding close to 1000
patrons, with an additional 400 person capacity for those over 21 for beer &
wine consumption at "The Edge" bar.
The Mardi Gras event is all about the bars involved getting rich off the
liquor sales, and a major chuck of these ticket sales...period!
I have yet to see any bars or downtown businesses get involved with this New
Orleans styled event, and decorate the entire downtown with all of the type
of decor to promote this annual event into a massive weekend block party that
it should be. This would generate huge profits to all of the downtown Moscow
businesses, and the local community as a whole instead of just the local bar
scene.
Furthermore, the final straw came some years ago was when The Beach presented
a check to the Mardi Gras Committee for $2000.00, and this check was
rejected, and we were told that they did not want our money!
Sincerely,
Barry Tassler
THE BEACH!
