I recall being at a city council meeting several years ago where the
council members were discussing, with a county employee, how they would
combine on an election, and who would pay what costs. Fiscal prudence
seems to dictate this kind of cost sharing and synergy. Again, if our
public officials are not willing to take this kind of step, I question how
well my tax dollars are being spent, and whether I would vote to send them
more money.
