Re: UI campus parking

Well, it's after 4:30 but here's my opinion anyway.

Forty years ago on another land grant college far, far away, I paid fees to
park a car while going to school. It's called a campus and I believe U of I
should be able to charge for all parking spaces on it; whether in lots or on
streets.

I am unaware of any private residences (Greeks excepted) on campus. There
are some apartments but they are filled by students and their private parking
lots should be the one exception as they presumedly pay for parking in their
rent.

As for the question of enforcement, the University could have a private
police force as does WSU. As it is they buy coverage from the City. Is
there really any difference? If the attorneys have a problem with collecting
parking fees on public streets then quit claim them to the University, after
all, I understand they, not the City, maintains them.
