RE: Palouse Littering
Well... I think you are right... but since there seem to be a major amount
of work to be done here and many of us are in the same situation maybe we
should create a cooperative... CTFP... Cooperative for Trash Free Palouse!
Actually I don't really care about the name... I was being silly! But if we
get together we can create a database of addresses of those who do not want
the paper and give that along with a letter to the Daily news and serve them
with a formal warning. As a large group we would have a lot more pull and if
it does get serious I am sure we could get better results with the
politicians and the courts as well. This is a serious matter and we need to
deal with it once and for all. If the paper is not responsible enough to do
the right thing on their own we can properly motivate them!

I am not certain what you "should" do, but you would be well within your
rights to file a complaint. If this is a serious enough issue in your
mind, you should begin to make a paper trail of complaints you have issued
to the Daily News. Even if it is as simple as keeping a written log of
phone calls you have made and with whom you spoken, it will go a long way
in proving your case if push comes to shove. A certified letter of your
intent to file a complaint would go a long way too. The emails that
Mr. Hogan sent to this forum would serve nicely to show that this is
a known issue as well. Again, I am not advocating one action over
another, just suggestions. It would be nice to think that we live in a
world where a phone call to a local newspaper distribution manager would
see some results, but we don't. The bottom line is, unless you are very
serious about this being a problem and your actions pose a very serious
legal/monetary threat to the Daily News, you will not be taken very
seriously. Serious.
