Palouse Living
Mr. Lamar,
Thank you for asking for clarification in this matter. Here are the
specifics about the Palouse living you requested.
The Palouse Living publication is indeed a free publication which is
distributed free of charge to all identifiable residences in Latah and
Whitman counties - who do not currently subscribe to the
Moscow-Pullman Daily News. It is used as a total market coverage
product in which we are able to provide news, classified ads and
grocery store inserts to our entire distribution area.
This form of delivery benefits those individuals and family households
who are looking for current events, classifieds and money saving food
coupons who otherwise would be unable to receive them - simply because
they are unable to afford a subscription to the Daily News.
The Palouse Living is not intended to be an "eye sore" or to be the
source of so much irritation to the point where people become angry
when they receive it. It is intended to provide means for those of us
who are less fortunate financially- to receive a sampling of news
stories, to review the area classified ads and to have an opportunity
to save money while shopping for their families in our area grocery
stores.
I do respect each and every opinion and request that is received by
our office. We do take customer service very seriously- I would like
to simply say if anyone receives the Palouse Living who does not wish
to, please let me know or anyone in our office- and we will make every
effort to make that request fulfilled in a timely manner. Since the
delivery of this publication is contracted out to independent carriers
in our community - not employees- we must follow specific steps to
inform, communicate and impose fines to those who do not adhere to
their scheduled route lists. This is very similar to dealing with
performance issues with employees, contractors or even in some cases
members of one's own family. You must make an effort to correct the
problem and give that individual, employee, contractor- which ever is
the case- an opportunity to succeed. If after that time, the situation
is not resolved, you are able to deal swiftly to the problem. In our
case, if attempts to correct the problem fail we must terminate the
carrier's contract with the Moscow-Pullman Daily News.
Thank you once again for your concerns, I hope I have helped to
clarify this issue.
