Moscow Ren Fair - Poster Party

Friends,

Two announcements from the Moscow Renaissance Fair committee:

1) Party

Join us this coming Sunday, April 8th, 2001, from 3:00 - 5:00 PM at Mikey's
Gyros in downtown Moscow (527 S Main) to celebrate our annual Moscow
Renaissance Fair Poster Party. We will unveil the new poster and honor the
poster creator. We will also be honoring the work of our second place
winner who's work will adorn the cover our program guide. Here is an
excerpt from a recent news release:

"First Place went to Kim Wiessner, she will receive a $200 prize for her
poster. Kim is a Junior, majoring Art with an emphasis in graphic and web
design at the University of Idaho. Kim got her inspiration for the design
from the mural in friendship square and watching people at last years
Renaissance Fair participate in the Maypole dance. "Iıd never seen a
maypole dance before and thought it was really cool", said Kim. Second
Place went to Nathan Nielsen, he will receive a $50 prize for his
design. Nathan is a part-time designer for Printing and Design at the
University of Idaho. He is also an acrylic artist that likes to paint
fantasy scenes with knomes and fairies. His design is a composite of three
or four of his paintings he scanned into a computer to creat the design
that will be used as the program cover for the Renaissance Fair. Nathanıs
acrylic paintings are represented at the Douglas Gallery in
Spokane,Washington. Both artistıs work will be displayed at Mikeyıs Gyros
527 S. Main street Moscow, Idaho along with the past 27 Renaissance Fair
posters. The public is invited to join us at the 28th Annual Renaissance
Fair Poster Party at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday April, 8th to congratulate this
year's Poster Contest winners. Hors d'oeuvres and refreshments will be
provided."

2) Call for Volunteers

This is the time of year we really get excited because the fair is only a
month away - May 5th and 6th. The Reniassance Fair committee has been
working hard since September and we are looking forward to another great
event that the whole family can enjoy. As always, we depend on the good
will and hard work of a great number of volunteers and this year is no
exception. We need people to help Friday through Monday with a variety of
chore including setup and takedown.

On Friday we setup canopy's, children's area stage, etc. from about 1PM
until early evening. Another big chore is hay bales, we have to have
trucks and strong backs to help haul them in and stack them Friday afternoon.

Saturday and Sunday, we can always use help all day long. Early Saturday
morning we finish setups but where we really need any extra help you can
spare is with the recycling and Stage 2 efforts that go on all day, both days.

Sunday evening and Monday we take down canopy's, childrens stage, stack hay
bales, haul the hay back (this usually happens Monday afternoon).

So, as you can see, we can use help. Any time/help you can provide with
any of these activities will be much appreciated. If you wish to
volunteer, please contact Dean Pittenger (dpitt@moscow.com) or the
volunteer coordinator, John Cronin (jaycron@turbonet.com) directly via
email and we will get you signed up.

And, we do hold a Volunteer's Party, usually in early summer, to thank you
all for the hard work. We couldn't do it without you.

Thanks

Dean Pittenger
President, Moscow Renaissance Fair
