RE: The mall's apology

I agree. Furthermore the $36,352 should go to parks and rec. for planting
trees and plants in public areas.

Subject: The mall's apology

I was pleased to see in tonight's Daily News that the
Palouse Mall and the city of Moscow had reached a settlement
in the plant removal case. The mall is to pay the city
$36,352 and publish an apology.

The hole in the news story is that readers don't know when
replacement plantings will be made and don't know how mature
the plantings will be. If plantings are delayed and if
little piddling six-inch starts are planted, it could be
four or five years before the planting strip gets to be
noticable. I suspect that the mayor and council did take
care of these details, but because they weren't reported,
I'd appreciate comment from the mayor or a council member.

Bottom line: I couldn't care less whether the mall pays to
publish an apology. I care a whole lot about the good green
stuff getting replaced in a meaningful way.
