Spaghetti dinner Feb. 4 in Moscow
Visionaries:
The Moscow Sister City Association will sponsor a spaghetti dinner on
Sunday, Feb.4, to benefit the school library in Villa El Carmen,
Nicaragua.
The dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. in the parish hall of St.
Augustine's Catholic Center, 628 Deakin Ave., across from the University
of Idaho Student Union Building.
The menu includes spaghetti with either meat or vegetarian sauce, salad,
bread, dessert and a beverage. Tickets, available at the door, are
$5.50 for adults, $3.50 for children and $14 for a family of four.
Villa El Carmen is a rural community in western Nicaragua, about 50
miles from Managua. The Moscow City Council passed a resolution in 1986
establishing a sister city relationship with the community, then called
Villa Carlos Fonseca.
Since then, the group has sponsored visits of the village's mayor and a
teacher to Moscow. It has sent humanitarian relief, including books,
medical supplies, clothing and a vehicle that was converted for use as
an ambulance.
