But the secession of any of the other 49 states could result in a civil 
war.  So the fact that Texas can peaceably secede means that the founding 
fathers were all knowing, seeing, predicting?

There are many good things about the Constitution.  Since it has endured 
200+ years, it is obvious that there are many strengths to the 
document.  But it was an experiment in democracy, and the reason we 
experiment is so we can keep what is good and eliminate what is bad or just 
plain pointless.  I learned in high school history class that the obvious 
place to start would be eliminating the Electoral College, which is simply 
out of synch with the modern concept of democracy, or even republicanism.
