Cosmonauts to Speak
COSMONAUTS TO SPEAK AT UI WEDNESDAY
Col. Alexander Volkov and Dr. Alexander Martynov of the
Russian space program will speak Wednesday from 7-9pm in the
Jansen Engineering Building, rrom 104 on the University of Idaho
campus.
The program is being hosted by the UI College of Education's
Center for Evaluation, Research and Public Service, Institute for
Mathematics, Interactive Technology and Science, the Palouse
Discovery Science Center and the Idaho Space Grant Consortium.
The presentation is free and open to the public. There will be an
informal reception immediately following the program.
Volkov, the most highly decorated cosmonaut in Russia spent
65 days aboard Soyuz/Salut in his first space flight. His second
mission in space was an endurance test of 150 days aboard the
Mir orbiting laboratory.
Martynov was responsible for landing space vehicles on the
Moon, Mars and Venus as well as the safe return of manned
spacecraft to Earth.
