Thanks to everyone who responded to my query about bird populations in
and around Moscow.  There didn't seem to be a clear consensus about
whether birds are more or less numerous this summer.  Responses varied
depending on the part of town, the type of vegetation in people's yards,
and the kind of bird.  Several people reported an increase in the hawk
population in the country.  If anyone hears anything more definitive,
please share it me or the list.
