Mayor's Arts Awards
Visionaries:
Jeanne Leffingwell, interim director of the Moscow Arts Commission,
asked me to post the following information. Please note the deadline is
next Monday, Sept. 11.
The Moscow Arts Commission is accepting nominations for the 2000 Mayor's
Arts Awards.The awards presented may include, but are not limited to the
following categories:
* Individual Excellence (1998 winner: Dan Bukvich)
* Outstanding Acheivement in Arts Education (1998, Forrest Sears)
* Outstanding Contribution as a Promotor, Patron, or Business Benefactor
for
the Arts (1998, the Bode family for local businesses and First Security
Bank for corporate benefactor)
[Other 1998 awards went to Peter Basoa, arts advocacy and Joann Muneta,
lifetime achievement award. -KB]
Nominees must have demonstrated artistic excellence or provided
significant ncouragement and support for excellence in the arts through
distinguished service or creative accomplishments, which enhance the
cultural climate of Moscow.
Please submit nominations by Monday, September 11, 2000. The MAC will
review all nominations and recommend award recipients; all
recommendations will be forwarded to Mayor Marshall Comstock for final
approval.
Award recipients will be honored at a formal reception in October, in
conjunction with National Arts and Humanities month celebrations. Each
award recipient will receive a unique award and a letter of commendation
from the Mayor.

* Award category,
* Nominee's Name and Address,
* Brief description of the outstanding contribution this individual or
organization has provided towards enriching Moscow"s arts climate, Name
of individuall submitting nomination (you!) and your phone number(s) and
email.
Feel free to nominate more than one individual or organizatiuon., and
also to send in supporting material such as articles, resumes, or
selected material demonstrating your nominee's expertise or community
support.
Since the MAC office computer cannot receive attachments at this time,
please
send any support materials to: Moscow Arts Commission, P.O. Box9203,
Moscow ID.
