Answer -- Re: What is up?

Thanks to the nearly dozen of you who responded
and gave suggestions regarding my inability to
connect via dialup.
In fact, a FirstStep tech left be a voice mail
and I returned his call.
I established an ADSL connection to the net
about a month ago. Currently, I just connect
my desktop PC that way.
I continued operating my notebook computer (from
my recliner chair) via a dialup connection. That
had continued satisfactorily with the other
machine connected via ADSL.
Then maybe 5-7 days ago, my dialup FirstStep
connection failed. The software kept asking me
to give a password. Well, the one I'd been using
wouldn't work, so no dialup connection.
Today, the technician said that when one establishes
an ADSL account, the dialup provision is disabled.
But this doesn't necessarily happen immediately upon
startup of ADSL,
The FirstStep tech also offered suggestions for
ways to connect my notebook computer.
As for ADSL, it is great! I think it is a great buy.
The snappiness of downloads seems to be as fast, and
sometimes faster than from my office PC at UI.
