I've received a phone call once, although I think it was something more 
local, such as Latah County Sheriff's Association, or something.  They 
couldn't send literature, either.  They couldn't answer specific questions 
about how the money would be sent, and just gave the name of the 
program.  I seem to recall that in this case, also, it was something for 
kids.  My standard response is that I don't respond to telephone 
solicitations, even from organizations to which I belong.  If I make 
donations to an annual membership or appeal, I don't want that to be 
interpreted as permission to call me for more.  The only exception I've 
made is donations to the college where I received my Bachelors Degree.
