Chief Weaver

Dear friends,

I am not sure what the motivation is here but my first reaction to this
letter is that you are barking up the wrong tree. I do not claim to know
chief Weaver very well but I have worked with him for over a year and am of
the opinion that he is an honest and decent person. I do not see any basis
for the following allegations. Having read the comment from my friend Mr.
Coombs I too am forced to echo his question.

Mr. Egan... I think the search for truth and justice is an admirable and
worthy cause but if your intension is to the contrary you should know that
you are dealing with highly intelligent and just group here. We tend to base
our opinions on facts.
Your allegations tell me that you do not have a real understanding of how
evidence and general PD operations are handled. The individuals in charge of
the PD are of the highest caliber and the strict code of honor has been
maintained for a long time. I know most of the members of the Moscow PD
personally and honor them for risking their lives everyday to safeguard
ours. Your suggestion would implicate many people who I know to be honest
and decent people.

I think you should be cautious with indiscriminate character bashing. As you
know defamation of character is not highly looked upon. In a just society
you will not get away with wrongly accusing innocent people of wrong doing.
This is not open season for attacking public figures.
