Hi
Visioneers!
I find
myself agreeing with Shahab on one of the hazards of driving US95: the slow
drivers. I believe studies have shown that more accidents occur when
traffic is moving at different speeds than when it is moving at a consistent
speed, be it fast or slow.
Sure,
folks get better mileage going 45 in their RV than they do going 60, but letting
10 or 15 cars pile up behind them and stubbornly refusing to pull over to let
the faster cars pass has inspired more bad passing decisions from the 5th car in
line than I care to think about.
More
passing lanes, like those found just south of Plummer would be a major
contribution to the safety of the road. I believe fewer people would try
to 'squeak in' a pass in a marginal area if they knew a passing lane was coming
up in a mile or two. I've had too many close calls from people coming at
me, in my lane, because they were trying to get around a slow-moving
vehicle. For that matter, does the constabulary still pull people for
delay of traffic? I can't recall seeing that happen in
years...
Cheers, Art Bettge
