Re: Schools
In the last 20 years our local community has become increasingly
metropolitan. We have people of all faiths and cultures living in our
community. Having lived in areas where my faith was in the minority, I
would very much object to imposing my faith on others who do not subscribed
to my views. Mandated prayers, postings of ten commandments (Whose list
would you have?), and golden rules simply are not appropriate in public
school settings. Religious beliefs should be taught in the home.
Communities need to be sensitive to the right and obligation of the home to
do that and should do everything possible to support the home in that task
but it has to be in the home not in the schools.
