That's been the feeling that I and some others have shared for some time,
which, together with the over $4 million for the outdoor (3-4 month)
swimming pool, might have been spent quite differently, with broader
community inputs. And it seems to some of us also that inadequate
community participation in reaching decisions on the l9l2 Bldg. after May
'99 was a factor in beclouding the planning procedures. I never saw a
cost-effective report on any alternative to what the powers that be came
up with for the community to accept -- no alternative plan?
The whole thing went to city hall, under the able guidance of Tom
Hudson -- after that, working committees (at least mine) had nothing more
to say until the deals were cut and in Sept. the call went out for $$
campaigns under the good signature of the Mayor et al. Maybe others have
something to say about this aspect of the story? Ken M.
