RE: Treaty Grounds

I would like to relate a recent example of this.

We hired a driver in December and started his training. On his last
training trip he decided not to show up. He didn't call in to let us know
he wouldn't be there. At this point we had already spent about $250 on his
training. The next day, he didn't show for his first scheduled trip, so we
terminated him, for failure to show for work.

He showed up for his next scheduled shift 2 days later and told us he had
decided to go to Seattle, and hadn't thought about letting us know.
He then proceeded to tell me how wrong we were to fire him for missing his
shift, and that we should give him the job back. To top things off this
erstwhile employee who had worked a total of 15 days filed for unemployment.

I agree with Judi, a good employee is hard to find, and when we do, we try
very hard to keep them. The problem is most employees we find here have a
poor work ethic, and expect to be spoon fed and treated like gold for a
copper performance. What ever happened to "an honest days work"?
