Tim: It seems clear that the list members need to come to grips with
this issue (cf. my post in response to Sue Hovey) While I respect the
need for campaigning, my view is that the politicians can set up their
own website (it costs very little), post their views, and invite
commentaries. One of the most urgent needs of American communities today
is for impartial education about the issues. Once you dip the discussion
into the ink of partisan rhetoric, you have totally change the color of
the medium. Perhaps the closest thing we have in the "official" media to
what we would like to do here, is C-Span, which admmitedly programs
partisan political presentations, but there's a genuine effort there to
be fully fair and even handed. How would Vision 2020 have to restructure
to insure those and similar values be adhered to? Obviously, there's
need for a review of this.Thanks for you thoughts! Ken M.
