Dear Tim and Visionaries: I do not think that advertising or
politicking, other than biographic and related information in which ALL
the candidates are asked to participate in a reporting mode, is
appropriate for this list. If everyone took the liberty of campaigning
for their preferred candidate, what would this medium become? A viewpoint
on an issue is one thing, but currying favor for personalities is
definitely another. I have already voted for my three candidates, and
Jack Hill was not one of them. I think his performance at the League
Forum was very fine, jovial, friendly, etc. But since you opended the
can, Tim, let me respond why I did not vote for Jack Hill.
Last Winter I was assigned to Jack's Committee on Work Force under
the EDC. The then Director, Rob Parrish, asked me to do some demographic
work, which included an extensive survey in this State, including
archival material in Boise and other points, in relationship to Latah Co.
and environs. I reported to Jack that I was on his committee and would
like to get involved. I never received a return call in regard to my
project, nor an invitation to attend his committee's meetings, over a
three month period. This relationship was reported to Parrish, who
dismissed it without comment. Of course, this is only one experience, but
it was enough for me to conclude that as an adminsitrator of a project,
Dr. Hill's performance was about 2 on a scale of 10 -- I give him a two
for being willing at least to talk to me on the phone, once!
Those of you who have other, more positive experiences with Mr. Hill
must draw your own conclusions about his willingness to work with other
people, whose credentials are as good as mine (I'll be glad to share
them).
I do hope that we do not allow ourselves to be sucked into this
kind of "debate", but this medium is no place to engage in personal
politics or campaigning for one's favor good ol' boy.
