Local bookstores and E-Commerce

Vision2020ers,

Just wanted to publicly thank Steve Cooke for posting "is e-commerce a the
threat to main street trade?" last week (Oct 6).

While I have a problem with what sometimes seems to be a knee-jerk reaction
to technological advances, and I DON’T agree that E-commerce is apriori a
bad thing, something in me shifted after reading this article.

I began using amazon.com about three years ago, and no amount of gentle
cajoling by Betsy at Bookpeople, guilt at not using Bob anymore, or pride
in local business seemed to be enough to counter-act the ease of ordering
through amazon, but the open letter from Andy Ross that Steve included did
the trick.

>From now on, I'll use amazon.com to find the exact author and title of the
books I need, then call Bookpeople to order them!
