Re: Contrast in the Corridor

Quality of life issues will be raised first by the Washington State
Department of Transportation's plans to expand Highway 270. The expansion
will add 2 more lanes and expand right-of-ways far beyond the current road
way. Look for these plans to be released for public comment this winter.
It's important that you comment if you are concerned about the future
configuration of the corridor.

Also, look for these two new developments this fall:
1. An application to build a storage facility (like U-Haul) has been
forwarded to Whitman County Planning. The corridor ordinance applies, so
the applicant will have to provide traffic studies, stormwater runoff plans,
a landscape plan, etc., and go before a Site Plan Review Committee.
2. Poe Asphalt wants to move the asphalt batch plant up (down?) the road to
the larger quarry. Poe has an agreement with Washington Natural Resources
to reclaim his existing quarry where the current asphalt plant is. Don't
know what the agreement contains.
