RE: no personal checks, please
I also never write checks, and I hardly ever carry cash. I think the
check/debit/credit card is the greatest modern invention. It's handy in
that many places that don't take checks will take a credit card, so I can
still pay, but the money comes out of my checking account.
In general I don't like place that won't accept checks, and I don't shop
at them. I also don't go places that won't accept debit cards. I only shop
one place that doesn't take cards--3rd Street Market--and Mark will always
take a check.

And as for local restaurants and Applebee's... I haven't been to
Applebee's, and I don't plan on going. I agree that we should support
local restaurants. My favorite is The Breakfast Club (where the Nobby Inn
used to be), owned by Kevin and Laurie Clary. Kevin is from the Silver
Valley. He runs a friendly restaurant with an excellent staff and great
service. They've also turned the old Nobby bar into a coffee/espresso bar.

And this all reminds me of Papa John's Pizza. How do other people feel
about the advertising techniques they use--namely having 16 & 17 year old
high school girls stand on a street corner with a Papa John's sign. It
bugs me to no end.
