On Monday, Aug. 9, the informal UI noontime running group will commemorate
the resignation of Richard Nixon by hosting its 24th annual Nixon Memorial
Run.
The run starts at the Memorial Gym parking lot, crosses a culvert or
water gate, passes the university compost heap (Haldeman Hill), and goes
through a gap into some trees (Rosemary Woods) for 16 minutes. Runners
must straddle fences and make several turns to the right. Bull dung
becomes increasingly bothersome and may prompt expletives. The route is
crooked and mostly downhill; it's quite unpleasant and everyone's glad when
it's over.
Starting time 11:40 a.m. Any runner or jogger is welcome to join in,
regardless of speed. No entry fee, but bribes are encouraged.
