Sweet Avenue Rears It's _______ Head

I've always maintained a keen interest in the
"transition" process of the once-heavily-contamintated
(now not-so-contaminated?) former Puregro site on
Sweet Avenue.

My current understanding of "the plan" for this site
is to turn the area into a kind of idyllic park-like
place that will welcome visitors to UI and may include
a performing arts center down the road a piece. A
path along Paradise Creek is also part of the plan.

Last night I noticed that the fences (which had been
put up after the site was scraped, excavated and the
soil hauled away to a toxic waste dump in Oregon) had
been removed from the perimeter, allowing access to
anyone, including children, who may want to cross the
property. It also appears that all vegetation on the
site has been killed with herbicide, although I saw no
signs in place warning that this had in fact taken
place.

Does anyone know what's happening on Sweet Avenue?
Are there still test wells in place to check
groundwater for contamination? I know PCEI has been
involved with the creek restoration/path part of the
project. Anyone have info.?
