Curbside recycling is a trade off.  You do have arguably ugly recycling
containers on the streets and curbside recycling fees or taxes.  But:
It's more energy efficient to have a few trucks collecting everyone's
stuff than having everyone drive to the recycling center and back, and
You get greater participation when you don't have to drive to the center
yourself.

It's none of my business since I live in Viola, but it strikes me that
given the trade off, curbside recycling is a good deal.
