I don't see why it would be inappropriate, unless that is just your personal
feeling.  It certainly seems appropriate for "promoting community dialogue"
and "increasing knowledge," from the 2020 mission statement.

I've seen flames that were less appropriate, with no apology demanded - and
none given.   Imagine that . . .
