CHIPS Public Meetings



Visionnaries:

Three public meetings have been set for comment on the Children's Health
Insurance Program Recommendations (CHIP)  The public will have three
opportunities in October to comment on draft recommendations.  A task force
appointed lby Dept. Health and Welfare Director Linda Caballero still is in the
process of developing those recommendation.

CHIP was created to increase access to health care for uninsured children.
The program began operating temporarily in Oct 97 as an expansion of the
Medicaid program.  The task force was formed in April 98 and began working
on developing a long term plan for CHIP in Idaho.  The draft recommendations
will be completed in September..

Advance copies of the draft recommendations will be available in mid-September.

The public meeting for North Idaho is October 5th--7:00 pm--Kootenai Medical
