RE: Optional Forms of Government

Glad the ballot sample came round...look forward to the new info coming....

So I think I'll be voting to maintain the current structure of our county
government. I can't see moving in a direction that tends to put in place a
new bureaucracy, tends to centeralize power, and make control one step
further removed from the populace. The balances which have been in place
have, over time, proven effective in allowing us to maintain consistent and
governance of our county affairs. By changing the form of governance, we
are insuring that we'll be in the vangard of establishing a body of Idaho
case law which would define. right now its a void. For example, how would
we "recall" (or fire) an appointed county administrator? Should the need
arrise, do we have to invent the mechanism and thus stand the legal fees
associated with the establishment of the precedence? (I'm sure there are
many more scenarios where this form of gov, in Idaho, is not well
defined....)

I spose there lots of pros/cons ... like the complexity/specialties of the
job of CC has gotten beyond the skill set of normal citizens ... that we've
got to defere to the knowledgable elite for the management of our affairs,
but I'd rather defere to my three (or is that one???? whats with this
executive commissioner thing anyway?) of my peers to do what's right,
asking advise - getting training - as needed, and have them to discuss the
issues with knowing that they can/must deal with getting things done.....

:)
