If I may be permitted to use the Library as an illustration of the disparity
in telecommunication costs - the Library District has libraries in both
Troy and Juliaetta, both with Internet access. We pay a great deal more for
telecommunication charges in those communities than we do for all of our
other libraries, which are in GTE territory. In fact, at this time we can
only afford dial-up access at Troy and Juliaetta because a direct line is
about $500 a month. Compare that to the $85 per month cost for a GTE line.
We have long believed that a huge inequity in access exists between the TDS
and GTE territories. It will be a relief when this issue is resolved.
Thanks again, for your efforts.
