Admittedly, I am pretty much out of the loop on the pool controversy. I
have simply skimmed over many of the more lengthy postings on Vision2020
which have referred to it.
On the other hand, as a long-time Moscow resident and taxpayer, I am aware
enough to know that 1.) We obviously need a new pool. 2.) It is apparent
that there continues to be disagreement over the indoor/outdoor question.
3.) There may be consensus on the committee, but without consensus in the
community, a bond requiring 2/3 approval will fail.
So what exactly IS the rush on this? Yes, we've been without a pool for a
year, but wouldn't it be better to work on this for one more year and
resolve some of the differences before putting it to a vote?
I'm a little concerned with the suggestion that "if we don't act (now)" it
jeopardizes any future pool or recreation center project. I can't imagine
why the need to act is so urgent and why the failure to do so would have
such dire consequences.
