Computers

This exchange between Jo Williams and myself lastt afternoon some how
managed to bypass 2020 (computers#@%*&$), so I submit it again.
I should add, that most of the time (99%+) we all love computers and what
they can do, and are doing for us. Even the occasional pencil has problems
- lead that breaks too easily, won't hold a point, etc. Pencils have had a
lot more time to be perfected. Sure, they cost less, but we don't get mad
at them and all who manage them.

Cheers.

My Reply:
>>I said "free" services! That was to signify how we have come to take
them for granted. Paid for, yes, by students and by taxes, and by a
variety of other people and means. My point is that this type of a system,
or one based on lead pencils and paper, need constant care and feeding
(money, for example) if they are to continue to operate and grow. We are,
as I was suggesting, wanting more than we have, or appear to be willing to
pay for.
