Care about organic?

The Moscow Food Co-op is sponsoring a public meeting about the new set of
standards now being created for the organic foods industry by the US
Department of Agriculture. Instead of welcoming the standards, many in the
organic foods business today are looking at the loopholes instead and
worrying that the door is open for the use of genetically modified
organisms, human sewage, industrial sludge, and a high percentage of
non-organic feed for livestock, and other common practices of today's food
industry.
The public meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 3, upstairs at the
Co-op, 310 West Third in Moscow. Nancy Taylor, Potlatch resident and
member of the National Organic Standards Board of the US Department of
Agriculture, will be there to lead discussion.
