BELLS TOLL FOR JUSTICE
Wednesday, Dec. 17, 1997, Noon

In the third week of November, racist skinhead activity in Denver,
Colorado, became increasingly confrontational and violent resulting in the
deaths of two men and the paralysis of a woman who tried to intervene in
support of one of the victims.

In commemoration of the deaths of Oumar Dia and Bruce Vanderjagt at the
hands of racist skinheads in Denver, we are asking churches across the
region to ring their bells on Wednesday, December 17, 1997, at noon as a
show of unity and a sign of hope.

In Moscow, the Latah County Human Rights Commission will hold a UNITED
AGAINST HATRED CIRCLE at Friendship Square in Moscow on Wednesday, December
17, at Noon in conjunction with the "Bells Toll for Justice" and to show
our opposition to the racism and anti-semitism recently expressed in our
area, on the WSU campus, through distribution of hate fliers bearing
swastikas.

Please join us for this brief (15-30 minute) gathering! Come shortly before
noon and bring a bell of any size if you have one. Your presence will be
meaningful as a show of opposition to bigotry and hatred.

Sponsored by Latah County Human Rights Task Force and Northwest Coalition
Against Malicious Harassment. Call Joann Muneta at 883-3267 for more
information.
