One possible reason for the reduced interest at the local level in the
elections and in such political movements as the green party might well be
the destruction of the progressive wing of the local politics through the
campaign to recall the county commissioners. Most of the current elected
officials come from those businesses that almost directly profit from
ensuring that the government is only minimally involved in regulating
growth.
