Strange noises

Every once in a while I hear a far off humming or drone, rather like a dynamo or
diesel engine. Maybe that's what it is, but I didn't know trains came into town
to rev their engines late in the evening. It doesn't sound like trains to me,
though, not quite.

Anybody else heard these almost otherworldly sounds coming from somewhere to the
west? (I live over near the Nazarene Church aka 'The Naz Dome')
