Hello, my name is Becky Chastain, I am the Linear Park Coordinator for
Moscow. I will be sending Vision 2020 progress reports from the meetings of
the Linear Park Task Force. The Moscow Park and Recreation Department and
the University of Idaho seperatly submitted two grants to Idaho Department
of Parks and Recreation. If recieved the grant would fund the constuction
of bicycle and pedestrian paths on the Sweet Ave. site and the extension of
the Palouse Path to Perimeter Drive. Both the City and the University will
finacially support each project equally using the grant money for the
balance for each project. The project will consist of grading, asphalt and
traffic bollards on the paths. Signs, plant materials and benches are not
eligible through this grant. The City should hear the results from the
Idaho Dept. of Parks and Recreation by the end of March.
Currently, the Linear Park Task Force is developing a city-wide
system of designated bicycle paths on the streets of Moscow, designated by
white line markings. These paths are designed to provide bicycle access to
Parks, Schools and Businesses which are not readily accessible by the main
Linear Park Path.
Also on the Linear Park's agenda is to begin the design process for
the 3 acre Berman/Plummer property which includes Paradise Creek. The
property is located North of Styner Ave, West of Tidymans, and East of
Highway 95.
