I don't think that should really be a concern. Is it 'fair' to favor
those that have newspaper subscriptions over those that don't by
posting announcements there? The city--or any government
entity--should use any and all means available to involve the public
in the civic process. Indeed, since the vision2020 list is
ostensibly made up of people concerned with government and quality of
life issues, it provides just the sort of forum where such
announcements will reach an 'audience' (versus being buried in the
newspaper.) And, of course, it is not so hard to access the list.
Perhaps if the city used it for announcements--along with the other
means already in place--it would draw more people to participate in
the list and hence draw more people into the discussion of important
local issues.
