NWPR election coverage

It will be interesting to see whether Northwest Public Radio carries local
election results on Wednesday morning. I'd certainly like to know the
results of the major Latah and Whitman County races, and I'm sure listeners
in Walla Walla and the Tri Cities would like to know what happened there.

I was pretty irritated four years ago when the coverage consisted of
repeated readings of statewide races, read from the wire services. I
complained then, and sent in a request today on the NWPR Talk Line
requesting that we get at least cursory local coverage.
It isn't difficult: lists of races can be readied in advance so a reporter
need merely make some calls. Most of the results are available Tuesday
night. It might mean a late night for a reporter, but it's only once every
four years, and anyway, that's journalism.
Let's hope this election NWPR really is "covering the region with in-depth
news...".
