i've spent the last tow days working on a sandbag crew trying to keep the
north fork of the palouse our of our (palouse city) well. as of now, we
have pure water in the pipes and about two feet of water running down
mainstreet. for thos of you who know the town, mano of the homes and
mobiles on west main are affected. there appears to be about four feet of
fast water flowing through the park. it looks like there is a logjam stuck
under the main highway bridge that is worsening the water flow through town.

lots of p&z issues here:
the watershed of the north fork of the palouse has been heavily logged and
farmed,reducing its holding capacity for water and increasing the rate and
volume of runoff.
many of the city facilities, water well, stores, sewer plant etc are in
places that are right by one measure, but have been flooded.

i imagine this will turn into a v2020 rant over the next few weeks, so i'll
sk now and get back to the barricades
