Palouse Pathway alert/action needed

A $900,000 grant from the Washington Department of Transportation for
construction of a bicycle/pedestrian/recreation path between Pullman
and Moscow is in jeopardy unless work begins before July.
The main obstacle has been the unwillingness of Burlington Northern RR
to agree to let trains from Palous River RR to run on its tracks; thus
allowing Palouse River RR to abandon the former Union Pacific track,
which runs parallel to the Pullman-Moscow Highway.
Backers of the path are urging residents of the affected communities to
write letters to BN urging it to move ahead quickly with a track
consolidation agreement. Send them to:
Rob Krebs, President
Burlington Northern/Santa Fe
3800 Continental Plaza
777 Main St.
Fort Worth, TX 76102

I am trying to find out if BN/SF has an e-mail address.

The city of Pullman is also trying to identify anyone in BN upper
management or Board of Directors with a connection to the Palouse,
or an interest in alternative transportation. If any readers of this
message have any ideas of possible sympathetic persons in that
corproation, contact John Sherman at City Hall, 334-4555.

Thanks,
Kenton Bird
