The sign change at the Community Center happened, probably because the
Mayor directed staff to do so. Councilmembers like myself knew nothing
about it until after it happened. Several weeks ago, the Mayor and City
Council were given a letter and petition asking that the sign saying
"Community Center" be put back up. I inquired about this myself several
months ago.
The sign change definitely does *NOT* have anything to do with "that shared
facilities crap", as you put it. I suggest that you lobby the Mayor about
the sign, perhaps you will have better luck than I have. The second and
third floor has been City Hall ever since the remodeling was finished and
the Administrative offices were moved. It would be most accurate to have a
sign that said "City Hall" and "Community Center". For anyone interested,
there is a Shared Facilities meeting Monday (tomorrow) at 3pm in Room 2B of
the County Courthouse.
Lisa, you said that you do not approve of the change of use of the old post
office. Does that mean that you want the second and third floor to be
vacant like they were prior to the remodeling?
