Reaction to Dan Kemmis talk

Thanks for asking for input, Dan & Kenton. What struck me most was the idea
that, like animals or humans, communities can be healthy or unhealthy. I
like the idea that a community is a living organism and, therefore open and
responsive to healing.

I also appreciated the notion that something beautiful or well-crafted can
have a far-reaching healing effect. The example of the well-made window
seat and its ripple effect throughout the room, the house, the city, the
world rings true to me. Echoes of this are found in every religious belief
since the beginning of time. Maybe we're just not used to thinking of
"things" having that kind of power. Perhaps if we read more Rilke...
