the conservation trust could be really helpful in increasing recreational
opportunities in this area. some years ago ann and i lived in boston. one
of the few saving graces of eastern mass is the conservation trust land in
the village of lincoln, about fifteen miles from downtown. lincoln was
originally the town where wealthy bostonians would retire to their estates
in the heat of summer. as times changed, many of the families were able to
retain ownership of the estates-most of which had large acreages- by placing
most of the undeveloped land in conservation trust. so in the village of
lincoln mass there are miles of public-access trails through nearly pristine
country-- with the occasional view of the manor house. really a neat place
to hike, and some of the only undeveloped potantially arable land left in
that half of the state. a real asset

locally, id like to see some palouse land returned to local grasses
