As I am graduating, this will be my last posting. It has been
enlightening to meet many of you. I hope you can work to make Moscow a
truly nice place to live, not an overregulated nightmare. Good luck.
In response to the issues we have been discussing, I am tired of repeating
myself but I will, in hopes that some will truly understand..
The Constitution of the United States of America is one of the greatest
documents ever written, please read it.
"Rights" are not *established* by the Costitution, they are defined as
preexisting it. The documents only protects them.
Less reguation is different than no regulation.
If you don't beleive that tyranny can come from democracy, read history.
Forcing your own personal beliefs on others thru gov't is OK until your
gov't decides to change it's mind.
For those who don't understand that there is a point of no compromise,
please find an acceptable level of pedophilia.
"I wasn't right wing until liberalism moved center so far left".
Extremism on the part of your opponent is no justification for compromise
on the field of ideas.
"One of the enduring mysteries of our time is the disenchantment of many
well-meaning people with the system of economics--free market
capitalism--which not only DEMONSTRABLY improves everyone's standard of
living and fosters POLITICAL freedom, too, bot gives the disenchanted the
time and luxury to, well, BE disenchanted."
As an exercise...find a justification in the Constitution for each
federal agency you can think of.
Carefully consider how much power you are willing to surrender to the
federal gov't so it can "protect you". Benjamin Franklin said that those
who surrender liberty to gain safety normally lose both.
Best to all,
Andy
