Something that seems to be missing from the
discussions so far, is the short sightedness (or just
plane selfishness) the people living near East City
Park.
I have lived here in Moscow since the day Mount St
Helens blew. Most of that time I have lived within two
of four blocks of East City Park. I have also been very
active in the Moscow housing market several times
during the past decade and a half. Houses surrounding
the East City Park cost more per square foot, than
other equivalent homes in Moscow. This is because
living near the Park adds value to a home. One of the
realtor justifications for the higher home value is that
the Park is seen as an "extension" of the yard.
It would appear that the park "neighbors" only want the
BENEFITS of living near the park and don't want to
deal with COSTS.
Sorry folks. . . BENEFITS without COSTS, is like
PRIVILEGES without RESPONSIBILITIES, it shouldn't
happen.
I say let the after dark noise continue during the VERY
FEW days a year when major community events occur.
I'm tired of one or two whiners ruining events for the
hundreds and thousands.
