Spring Forward, a 5-kilometer run/walk/stroll is scheduled
for the morning of April 25. This fun run is a campus and
community event benefiting the UI Women's Center. The run is the
brainchild of five University of Idaho Kappa Kappa Gamma members,
Jill Aldape, Sage Benetendi, Alecia Sparrell, Anne Thatcher, and
Jenny Troutman. Scheduled to coincide with the University of Idaho
Mom's Weekend events, Spring Forward offers an opportunity to enjoy
a scenic route through the UI campus. It is open to competitors
and noncompetitors alike. First-place prizes will be awarded for
women and men, walkers and runners, in six age groups.
The early registration deadline is today, April 13 -- $8 to participate
or $15 to receive a t-shirt as well. Late registration entries -- $10 to
participate or $17 to participate and receive a t-shirt -- will be
accepted until 9:00 a.m. the day of the race. The race begins at
9:30 a.m. Late entries will receive their shirts sometime after
May 11. Spring Forward is sponsored in part by Kappa Kappa Gamma,
Branegan's Pizza, Dutch Goose, Moscow Food Co-op, Rosauers, Safeway,
Super 8 Motel, and Waldenbooks. Any proceeds will benefit programming
at the UI Women's Center, particularly in areas of women's health and
safety. The fun run is open to everyone. For more information or to
